2014 Hyundai Equus Teased Ahead of 2013 New York Auto Show
The revised 2014 version of the Hyundai Equus, which was already unveiled in the Korean automaker's home market, is being teased ahead of a debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
Hyundai Motor America previously told Edmunds that some of the changes to the South Korean-spec Equus will be reflected in the U.S.-market 2014 model. It is not clear if the U.S. version will include less chrome on the front end, since the teaser image shows the car in shadow.
Accompanying the image is the first official word about changes to the 2014 Equus here. The Equus is Hyundai's flagship sedan.
Hyundai Motor America calls the facelifted Equus "significantly enhanced" and says it will include "more than 30 new and enhanced features, including exterior and interior design elements; ride, handling and vehicle control dynamics; interior material quality; driver technology displays and advanced safety features."
The redesigned Equus for South Korea gets a head-up display, a blind-spot detection system and, apparently, some type of haptic feedback through the steering wheel.
Pricing was not announced on the 2014 Equus. The 2013 Equus is noteworthy because it exceeded the $60,000 mark. The base 2013 Hyundai Equus Signature with a 5.0-liter GDI V8 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission starts at $60,170, including a $920 destination charge.
