A face-lifted version of the Hyundai Equus was unveiled in South Korea, previewing what the 2014 Hyundai Equus will look like when it arrives in the U.S. next year.

A Hyundai Motor America insider told Edmunds that some changes to the Equus will be reflected in the U.S. version in 2013.

The mild redesign includes less chrome on the front end, as well as redesigned wheels. Hyundai's official statement on the Equus for the home market did not address media speculation that the flagship sedan will be equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A 10-speed transmission would provide fuel economy and performance improvements.

The 2013 Hyundai Equus in the U.S. is equipped with a 429-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai said the redesigned Equus for South Korea gets a head-up display, a blind-spot detection system and haptic steering.
